In Godzilla Minus One, Koichi Shikishima (Ryunosuke Kamiki) is a World War II kamikaze pilot. When he lands on Odo Island complaining of issues with his plane to the local repair team, one of the mechanics correctly guesses that this was an excuse to avoid flying to his death, and even recognizes the merits in that desire to live.
