  3. May 22, 2024 · Come to think of it, I have never seen a serious use of Halberdiers. They are slow, and being melee heavy infantry, get beaten by skirms, muskets, falconets, and micro’ed goons. The unit have good siege, but so does most artillery. The Dutch have Royal Guard Halberdiers, but 9 times out of 10, they will go for Ruyters instead.

May 13, 2024 · If the lancer drops the musketeer in 3 hits or less, you can (generally) fight cost effectively assuming the opponent doesn’t trigger his muskets manually into melee. 4 Hits is pushing it, depending on the musketeer melee. Age 3 lancers vs age 2 musketeers is basically an even fight.
