The Magnificent Seven was shot on location in Cuernavaca, Mexico and at the Estudios Churubuscos Aztecas in Mexico City. Shooting there meant clearing the script through the Mexican censors, who demanded numerous changes to present the story's locale and Mexican characters in the best possible light.

Feb 26, 2021 · Fun Fact: Akira Kurosawa wrote and directed Seven Samurai, on which The Magnificent Seven (1960) was based. He also wrote and directed a 1961 film called Yojimbo. It used many elements from a Dashiell Hammett story called Red Harvest, and the character Red Harvest in the 2016 reboot is a nod to Kurosawa.
