just casually reading the scene in catching fire right after gale is whipped and katniss's mom is tending to his wounds. katniss is freaking out, yelling obscenities at her mother for not giving gale more pain medication. eventually, it has to get so bad that peeta and haymitch have to carry her out. in the end, katniss can not handle seeing gale in so much pain.

When Peeta goes on a breakdown on how Katniss is a mutt, Katniss's reaction is to run away. It reminds me of her reaction when she heard her mom yell at her father for the first time. She runs away to the meadow because of how scared she is. Katniss running away from 2 should tell us how scared she was because of what was done to them.

If I had to guess, Peeta revealing that the Capitol was about to bomb 13 was the last straw to Snow, and that's when he ordered the hijacking to begin. It’s not a dumb question. I was wondering the same because it is stated everywhere that Peeta was hijacked for weeks.
