Look at Anderson Silva. You can tell he and Machida have trained together because even though Silva's primary style is MT, he is mixing in more traditional stances and kicks. Silva throws his kicks more like Machida does (knee up first, then foot/shin extended) and not like a MT striker would (foot/shin swing like a whip).
