Development of the Garden District began around 1832 and was originally incorporated as the City of Lafayette, the seat of Jefferson Parish.
1. Re: Garden District Christmas Light Tour. If you don't find or use a driver, just get on the St. Charles Street Car at Washington. Ride it Uptown to Riverbend and back. Sit on one side up, and the other side back. The lights on St. Charles are spectacular.
