Because if it’s trash you just delete it. You never know when you find silver in a pile of rubbish. I suppose so, but eventually it gets to the point where you can't possibly remember every individual sound and it's difficult to determine if you already have it or not. Especially when they are titled differently.

DAWs have their default midi note set to C most of the time. When the 808s are already tuned to C, the piano roll will accurately play the sample by note. If they aren’t tuned, it can get confusing when you’re imputing a C on the piano roll but the 808 is really playing an F# or something. Hope that makes sense.
