Gorokan High School, established 1976, is a co-educational comprehensive school for local students and is academically selective, accepting sixty outstanding students annually through the Selective Schools Placement Test. The first Year 7 selective class commenced in 2010. Gorokan also has two support units for students with special needs.

Gorokan faces towards the Tuggerah Lake and the Budgewoi Lake on the western shores. It is part of the Central Coast Council local government area.
