Nov 30, 2018 · New scams continue to pop up every day — and scammers will try every angle, including things relating to your home. The Better Business Bureau’s online Scam Tracker lists more than 44,000 scams reported in the U.S. this year alone (as of Nov. 14, 2018).
Avoiding Mortgage Scams. Here are some common “red flags” that may indicate a communication is a scam: Communications with a sense of urgency and possibly your Mortgage ID number. We never send mail with your loan information printed on the outside.

You can also report fraud to the FBI, and to the FTC at ReportFraud.ftc.gov or by calling 877-382-4357. Additionally, the FTC recommends reporting text scams by forwarding messages to 7726 (SPAM).

Beware of unsolicited messages and calls that: Tell you to send your mortgage payment to a new address or make the payment to any third party. Threaten foreclosure or pressure you. Demand that you sign over your title or deed.
