He was selected by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2013 NFL draft. He played college football for the LSU Tigers, where he earned All-American recognition.

Apr 11, 2014 · Sam Montgomery is getting another chance with an NFL club. The Bengals announced the signing of Montgomery, the former Texans and Raiders defensive end/outside linebacker, on Friday. A third-round pick of the Texans in 2013, Montgomery was waived by Houston in October after allegedly violating club rules.
