Lust, Caution is an exquisitely slow-paced espionage film. It revels in its Alfred Hitchcock influence, taking his template from Notorious and imparting even more opaque performances. The film was infamous on release for the explicit sex scenes, but the vibrancy of these moments makes Lee's film work narratively and emotionally.
