John Trudell (February 15, 1946 – December 8, 2015) was a Native American author, poet, actor, musician, and political activist. He was the spokesperson for the United Indians of All Tribes ' takeover of Alcatraz beginning in 1969. He was partners with Marcheline Bertrand, Angelina Jolie 's mother, until her death in 2007.

He asked that people pray and celebrate in their own way in their own communities,” Miller said in a statement. Trudell was born Feb. 15, 1946, in Omaha, Nebraska. His father was Santee Sioux, and Trudell grew up near the Santee Sioux Reservation.
