In Port of Spain, Trinidad, the mediocre painter Neal Emery is found dead apparently after committing suicide. Inspector Smythe seeks out Neal's wife, the dancer Chris Emery that is the lead attraction of the Caribe night-club to tell her about the death of her husband.
When nightclub performer Chris Emery (Rita Hayworth) discovers that her husband has been murdered, she resolves to help the police find his killer.

Taken on its own merits, Affair in Trinidad is a well-crafted suspense noir set on the exotic Caribbean island where the traitorous smuggler and war profiteer Max Fabian (Alexander Scourby) is plotting illicit activities which the feds would like to know more about.
Directed by Vincent Sherman and with a screenplay by Berne Gilder and James Gunn, the story is set in Trinidad and pitches Hayworth as a recently widowed nightclub dancer and Ford as the deceased man's brother....
