County History. Located in east central San Saba County, San Saba was settled in 1854 and named for its location on the San Saba River. It became the county seat in 1856. By 1884, the town had four churches, two schools, a sawmill and a gristmill, a bank, a paper, and a population of 800. A post office was established by 1857.
The Lone Star's last and only active automobile suspension wooden bridge overlooks the Colorado River and is a Texas treasure everyone should see. Nice place to take some pictures and it is not far from the Pecan Capital Of The World, San Saba, Texas. I hope repair will be completely finished soon.
