That’s the reason Carrie, the classic movie of what happens when bullying meets a hormonal telekinetic, was remade for audiences of 2013. Not because the 1970’s version by Brian De Palma had open, irritable flaws that diminished the Stephen King novel from which it was adapted that needed to be corrected.

"Carrie", one of his most well known and lauded narratives for its original novel and film adaptation, is the most reliant on the subject matter of bullying. In modern America where bullying has become a subject of national outcry and countless awareness campaigns, you could say it's a perfect time for a remake of "Carrie" if there was to be one.
Mar 19, 2024 · Originally slated for a March 2013 release, Carrie was delayed nearly seven months to October. That is generally a good month for horror film. Carrie had a solid opening weekend, but had a huge drop in the following weeks (not unusual for horror films). The film is based on the novel by Stephen King and the 1976 film directed by Brian De Palma.
My review is that this movie is just as good as the original one with Sissy Spacek as Carrie. I say that because the 2013 version with Chloe Grace Moretz as Carrie is far more in depth (story wise) than the original and the ending is much, much, much more heart pounding and more true to the book.
Carrie as a character has significantly more agency -- she's not the alien of De Palma's film, which frankly robs the finale of its inexorable dread, and once the buckets start to fall that agency creates a blanket of safety, that only the bad people will get hurt; this is a revenge tale and not a tragedy.
