Links connecting to the app instead of the built in download manager was incredibly inconsistent even with the proper extensions installed and settings enabled. I'll have to look into it again as it'd be nice to remove another hurdle in switching to Linux full time but last I checked, XDM fell far short of IDM's reliability.
