Sandra Sue Pesavento, known professionally as Sandy West (July 10, 1959 – October 21, 2006) [1] [2] was an American singer, drummer and songwriter. She was one of the founding members of The Runaways, the first teenage all-girl hard rock band to record and achieve widespread commercial success in the 1970s.
She later appeared again on the compilation albums Neon Angels and The Best of the Runaways. Fuchs played bass at the Runaways reunion in 1994 with Currie and West. Currie's sister Marie also performed with the band that night. [2] Fuchs denied permission for her name to be used in the 2010 feature film The Runaways.
Lita Ford signed on within the first year of the band as lead guitarist after initially auditioning for bass. Cherie Currie joined as lead vocalist. Jackie Fox left the group in 1977, during the Japanese tour. Shortly after the band returned to the US, Cherie Currie left the Runaways and Joan Jett took over as lead vocalist.
