Margo Martindale is a perfect example of this. The show is nodding to that fact, recognising her skill. Also, they managed to secure the real actress to voice the character and make the character do a bunch of whacky stuff for laughs, which makes it even funnier. Especially when she addresses her own acting talent in her dialogue.
