Feb 23, 2007 · The first recording I ever found of The King and I was a cast recording with Gertrude Lawrence. It was an LP from my high school library- nearly 40 years after the fact so the sound quality had deteriorated to the point of being horrible and Yul Brynner sounded like he was 10 years old since the bass was gone.
