The New Town boasts the rotunda of Saint Martin at Vysehrad, which is the oldest rotunda in Prague. This Romanesque relic used to be a parish church during the 11th century. The Klausen Synagogue was built in 1694 right next to the entrance of the Jewish cemetery and on the former site of the Klausers. The Klausers were three small buildings, one of which was a synagogue erected in 1564, and another of which was Rabbi Loew’s school. All three were destroyed in a major fire of 1689.
