It was well worth the trip to see in the monasteries in Meteora. We took the train from Athens (5 hour trip one way and the train was absolutely filthy! Would not use this transportation again!). The guide met us there and drove us to 3 monasteries. Beautiful country. Amazing views. Monasteries were incredible.

That will cost you between 9 to 10 Euros, visit the monastery and then walk down to the town of Kalampaka through the old trail that you will find it on the base of that monastery.

A few things to note: •The train ride is not guided- you have to get to the train station and ride the train alone. •bring cash- the monasteries are €3 each, and the train only takes cash in the cafe car. •there are bathrooms at the monasteries, but they’re basically holes in the ground, plan accordingly.
