I live 2 blocks from the pier and have the pleasure of enjoying the area daily. Peninsula Park right as you get to the pier is a great place to picnic. Beautiful setting, Ruby's at the end of the pier and lot's of restaurants within walking distance. Balboa fun zone a two minute walk.
