Mirren lived with Northern Irish actor Liam Neeson during the early 1980s; they met while working on Excalibur (1981). When interviewed by James Lipton for Inside the Actors Studio, Neeson said Mirren was instrumental in his getting an agent.
His relationship with Morgana (the lovely Helen Mirren) is actually the most interesting thing in the film. Morgana borrows Merlin's magic to deceive Arthur and to stay young. Inhabiting a dragon's cave that is apparently somewhere beneath Camelot, she wears brass brassieres and other obligatory props, but she's intriguing.

Jan 18, 2019 · The film stars a young Patrick Stewart who manages to look exactly the same as he does now, not to mention Liam Neeson rocking a man bun. However, the clear standout in this very weird retelling of the King Arthur story is Helen Mirren as the sorceress Morgana.
