The Stand is an American epic Dark Fantasy web television miniseries, based on the 1978 novel of the same name by Stephen King as directed by Josh Boone. The first episode aired on CBS All Access, December 17, 2020, it is the second adaptation of King's novel, following an earlier four-episode miniseries from 1994.

Overview. Synopsis. After a deadly plague kills most of the world’s population, the remaining survivors split into two groups - one led by a benevolent elder and the other by a maleficent being - to face each other in a final battle between good and evil.
This version seems to hope it can get by on chock value, but it completely misses the point when turning New Vegas into a Sodom or Gomorrah, rather than a fascist state, for example. It's a hot mess, and if you're too lazy to read the book, then watch the 1994 version instead. 273 out of 326 found this helpful.
