Dec 16, 2022 · PORT HURON, Mich. - Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Blue Water Bridge (BWB) staff is encouraging all Edge Pass commuter account holders to request a 6C radio frequency identification (RFID) tag for each vehicle used via their account. MDOT plans to phase out the use of physical Edge Pass cards by the end of the calendar year.
The Blue Water Bridge Authority and Michigan Department of Transportation aligned the continuous tied arch bridge with approaches of box girders and multiple girder spans south of the earlier bridge. It is 6,109 feet in length and rests on concrete piers. The design satisfied historic preservationists, because it is compatible with the 1938 bridge.

Blue Water Bridge is a major international crossing over the St. Clair river at the southern end of Lake Huron. Located between Port Huron, Michigan and Point Edward, Ontario connecting both Interstate 94 and Interstate 69 with Highway 402 it is one of the fastest links between the Midwest and Ontario as well as the Northeast United States.
Mar 24, 2023 · The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL) will complete maintenance on the westbound span of the Blue Water Bridge (BWB) from July 5 to Oct. 23. This work will close the westbound span of the BWB from Canada to the U.S. During this closure both directions of traffic will be maintained on the eastbound span of the BWB, from the U.S. to Canada.
FBCL owns, manages and operates international bridges and associated structures in Sault Ste. Marie, Point Edward, Cornwall, and Lansdowne, Ontario.
