Eccleston's claims that the BBC were unsupportive of the show, and only got behind it when it was a success, should be taken with a pinch of salt. He's made various claims that the BBC "expected Doctor Who to fail" and thought of it as "Eccleston's folly and Davies' Folly" etc. but the facts don't really stack up.
