Jan 12, 2018 · Neeson throwing himself about the train-setting is engaging enough to hold your attention for about an hour. Unfortunately, The Commuter is an hour and fortyfive minutes long. Final rating:★★½ - Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole.
The movie itself was a pretty run-of-the-mill action movie, but did anyone else really like the beginning? The whole thing with the alarm clock, getting ready, going to the train station, etc, and how it showed the same repetitive motions every single day for years - was shot and put together really well, I thought.

This was a straight up B movie that had no apologies about it. For being a movie on a train the cinematography was pretty solid and the mystery was pretty tight given the script. It was a great popcorn flick and better than a lot of blockbusters that have come out this year.
Love Neeson but The Commuter has one of the most ridiculous plots I have ever seen, even for an action film. Nothing make sense, literally, NOTHING: 1) The nemesis, Joanna (played by Farmiga), who is off the train, seem to know every single move MacCauley (played by Neeson) made throughout the entire event, she was always able to call him at the exact moment each critical task was completed ...
