Yea Survivorman was the best example. Dual survival in the middle, and Man vs wild was probably the “worst”. They all were decent to different viewers. They all are decent representations of survival techniques to the novice choosing different narratives. All were very beneficial to those trying to go “farther”.

My wife was going to get me a Bear Grylls survival knife for Christmas one year. Then I found out the Les Stroud had a signature knife that wasn't stupid-ass-orange. She returned the BG knife and got me a pretty sweet knife with Les's signature printed on it. I still use it on all my trips.

Hart got an engineering degree and then moved to the Idaho wilderness in 1932 to escape the Great Depression. He built his home and other buildings by hand, grew/killed his own food, mined and smelted the metal he used to make all his own tools, including his rifles. He lived there until his death in 1980.
Jun 28, 2011 · I prefer Bear Grylls simply because it is far more entertaining. My wife and I also like to watch the one with the guy and his wife (I don't know what it is called because they rename the shows for the Spanish Audience). I don't really watch any of them for education value. Doing what Grylls does WILL get you killed.
