Results from PISA indicate the quality and equity of learning outcomes attained around the world, and allow educators and policy makers to learn from the policies and practices applied in other countries. This is one of six volumes that present the results of the PISA 2018 survey, the seventh round of the triennial assessment.
Between 2018 and 2022, mean performance in mathematics across OECD countries fell by a record 15 points. Reading fell 10 points, twice the previous record, whereas science performance did not change significantly. The PISA 2022 results represent outcomes from the 8th cycle of PISA since its inception in 2000 and provide a global view of U.S. students' performance compared to their peers in the 80 other participating education systems. In PISA 2022, the major domain was mathematics literacy, although reading and science literacy were also assessed.
