The. trail heads uphill through a rocky area and up towards the top of Storm King Mountain. From here there are views of the Hudson River and the beautiful river valley it has carved out. The rocky areas are attractive areas for rattlesnakes during warm weather, so keep dogs on leash.
Jun 15, 2023 · Shortly after you cross under the overpass for Angola Road, you’ll begin climbing a large hill. At the crest of the hill, on your left, you’ll see the trailhead for Storm King Mountain, which looks like a scenic pulloff with room for about 20 cars.
Check out this 2.3-mile loop trail near Cornwall Hdsn, New York. Generally considered a moderately challenging route. This is a very popular area for birding, hiking, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are March through November.
Storm King Mountain is a mountain on the west bank of the Hudson River just south of Cornwall-on-Hudson, New York. Together with Breakneck Ridge on the opposite bank of the river it forms "Wey-Gat" or Wind Gate, the picturesque northern narrows of the Hudson Highlands.

Jul 22, 2023 · Storm King Mountain and State Park are located in Cornwall on the Hudson in upstate New York. This is pretty close to Fish Kill/Poughkeepsie and Beacon, NY. It is a great day trip to take from New York City, as it is only about an hour and a half north of NYC.
Epic views, a scramble, a seemingly never-ending climb, and great varied terrain. On the way up Storm King Mountain you get three super features, the first fantastic scramble up Butter Hill, the long and amazing edge walk along the ridge, and the super steep rocky trail up the other mountain.

May 12, 2021 · Storm King Mountain is one of the most popular destinations in the Hudson Highlands. The scenic views it offers up and down the Hudson River are unbeatable. This is short and relatively easy hike, though it has a few steep-ish sections, and one minor rock scramble.
Storm King State Park offers unsurpassed views of the Catskills and the Hudson Valley. Hikers and hunters enjoy this undisturbed green space. Park is undeveloped. There are no toilets and limited parking. Dogs only, must be on a leash not more than 6 feet.
