Aug 9, 2023 · At the other end of the line, the Seattle Center Monorail stops at Westlake Center. The Westlake Center is a downtown shopping mall, and the monorail station is on the 3rd floor. Just off the monorail platform is an elevator and a set of stairs that lead to street level. You can also connect to the light rail downstairs, and the bus system outside.
The Seattle Center Monorail consists of two four-car trains that traverse the 1.2-mile elevated track of pre-stressed, precast concrete “guide-way beams” in 95 seconds. Each train was designed to ride upon 64 rubber pneumatic tires, with 16 load-carrying tires on top of the beams and 48 guide tires gripping the sides.
