Kevin Smith maxed out credit cards and took out loans and shot the film from store close-to-open for 21 days straight, and the authenticity is tactile. Clerks II feels like it was forced on Kevin Smith by gunpoint. Tired bits of stale humor, hardly any meaningful character progression, and blown-out photography that glows like a Denny's commercial.
