If Ridley gets to make his 3rd prequel, more people will come around to Prometheus and Covenant. One of the main gripes people have with Prometheus is that it didn’t tie in directly to alien yet. It’s kind of mi d boggling to me how people don’t realize that it’s the first episode in a planned series of three. So it’s setting the stage.

Prometheus Fails On Storytelling: Prometheus was a grand story poorly told; it was poorly executed "storytelling". The themes of the "stories" were huge, but Scott lost the forest through the trees. Movies can have great themes, leave a myriad of unanswered questions, be boring and still be excellent, memorable and well told.
I got the same feeling watching the expanse, almost felt like this might be how it was before they found the prothean ruins on mars and the mass relay. And the Protomolecule could have been some form of element zero. But I personally think that mass effect wont really be that good in a movie/tv-show.
