In 1985, Matthew Bird moved to Providence to attend Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he majored in Industrial Design. Moving to Providence for school caused Bird’s first interaction with Fox Point to occur.

I have been teaching Industrial Design at RISD since 2005. The Sophomore level Design Principles studio class teaches introductory design skills and design process methods. I revised and developed a series of drawing exercises that arrive at drawing complex shapes from the imagination, from any point of view.
