He's a master of lyric and mood; Buckner’s vast talents displayed on his first outing have kept Bloomed on the playlist of many a No Depression/alt-country fan over the years. Though his roots are in the California delta, Buckner is aligned with Lubbock, Texas–based artists like Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Butch Hancock.

Nov 17, 2020 · Before fusing folk and rock, Richard Buckner started with traditionalist country. Unlike his later work, his 1994 debut album "Bloomed" is only 12 mostly acoustic tracks that all exceed (egads!!!) 3 minutes in length. However like his later work, all the songs are well crafted and highly personal.
Jan 30, 2014 · Bloomed is my first Richard Buckner CD. I first heard him on the "Homeward Bound" country/folk collection CD (from Eddie Bauer). I fell in love with the track "Blue and Wonder", and knew I had to buy a whole CD of his soothing, mellow music. I am very pleased with "Bloomed" & find myself listening to it at least once a day.
