South Boston is a great place. You have yuppies, people right off the boat from Ireland, Southie Natives, in a nice mix that makes up a genuine atmosphere. This film NEVER captures what being in South Boston really feels like visually (neither did Good Will Hunting.) They portray it as an abyss of dank row houses.
An Irish mafia story with an interesting cast: Donnie Wahlberg, Rose McGowan, Amanda Peet, and Will Arnett. It’s strange, but I like it! I’d totally settle in with this film again sometime. I love the shaky handheld camera. Everything feels immensely authentic, like we are just watching everyday life in South Boston.
