  1. Exiled certainly is entertaining, but I do find it mediocre compared to some of To's other movies. The style is there, it does however run a bit low on heart. The camaraderie between the characters just feels forced. I also lost track of what was going on at times. This definitely isn't To's strongest movie from a narrative standpoint.

  2. Sep 6, 2007 · The opening scene in "Exiled" lacks only a score by Ennio Morricone to be a spaghetti Western. A fistful of knuckles raps on a door. No answer. Again. Again. The door opens. 6. The performance by the mother character in the film is outstanding and sets up a perfect conclusion. The unexpected twist at the end left me unsure of the outcome until the final scene. In conclusion, Exiled is a unique and worthwhile addition to the action genre. I would give it a 7.5-8/10 and strongly recommend it.

  7. Well, it does in a Johnnie To movie, anyway. Exiled recalls the homoerotic gangster brotherhood of A Hero Never Dies, which featured Leon Lai and Lau Ching-Wan as dueling hitmen who drink together with the knowledge that the following day they'll be aiming for each other's heads with semi-automatic weapons. Both guys had girlfriends, but it was ...
