The Mobile Museum of Art is the largest art museum along the Gulf Coast from New Orleans to Tampa. In our 95,000 square-foot museum, with scenic vistas of surrounding Langan Park, the permanent collection consists of more than 6,400 works of art, many of which are shown in our American, European, and Asian art exhibitions.

A Brief History of the Mobile Museum of Art. Since its founding in 1963 as a public/private entity then known as the “Mobile Art Gallery,” the art museum has evolved into the only accredited art museum in south Alabama, with a collection of over 6,400 artworks comprised of painting, sculpture, decorative arts, works on paper, and crafts.
