To use it create a material, choose this shader, set gamma value to 0.455 (that's reverse of the most common gamma value 2.2) and make sure MoviePlayer comonent uses this material. It may happen that video brightness is fine in final build, but in Editor it's over exposed.
That's why Unity uses Quicktime for importing videos and OGG/Theora for playback. Imho, it's best to stay clear from mpeg codec family. There are now license and quality-wise better alternatives to mpeg like VP9. It hasn't completely matured yet, but Google is behind it and many web browsers already support it too.

To create a Movie Texture, place a video file in your project’s Assets Folder. Unity uses this video file in the same way as a regular Texture. Unity imports video files using Apple QuickTime. On Windows, you need to install Quicktime to import a video file. Download Quicktime from Apple Support Downloads.
Due to a bug in Unity audio streaming it is advised to enable preload audio (tick checkbox on MoviePlayer) on all build targets when using Unity 5.3.1 and 5.3.2. Earlier versions may be affected too, haven't tested. Without it the Unity editor crashes whenever a scene is played, stopped and played again.
