Sep 23, 2011 · When Glenn Miller disappeared, he left behind his wife, the former Helen Burger, originally from Boulder, Colorado, and the two children they adopted in 1943 and 1944, Steven and Jonnie. Helen Miller accepted the Bronze Star medal for Glenn Miller in February 1945. The Miller estate authorized an official Glenn Miller "ghost band" in 1946.
Apr 8, 2021 · After marrying his college sweetheart, Helen Burger, in 1928, Miller continued his freelance work in New York, eventually becoming the music director for the Dorsey Brothers. His work with the Dorseys led him to English bandleader Ray Noble who had Miller organize his American band.

May 11, 2018 · Miller felt optimistic enough about his burgeoning career in 1928 to marry Helen Burger, a woman he had met at the University of Colorado. During the 1930s, Miller helped Ray Noble start an orchestra, played for other bandleaders, and put together a swing band for Columbia Records.

Two years later he married his college sweetheart, Helen Burger, moved to New York where he worked for the Dorsey Brothers, organized a band for Ray Noble and studied music theory and composition with Joseph Schillinger. Twelve years passed before Miller formed his namesake orchestra.
