Clyde Jackson Browne (born October 9, 1948) is a German-born American rock musician, singer, songwriter, and political activist who has sold over 18 million albums in the United States. Emerging as a teenage songwriter in mid-1960s Los Angeles, he had his first successes writing songs for others.
Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and he has defined a genre of songwriting that is charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
