Often overlooked, and probably much more rare, is the exploding cauliflower ear. Caused by grappling mainly, the condition is a build up of fluid in the ear that has a very particular look. Nasty!
If you see really fucked up ears, it usually means that they got cauliflower ear, did or didn't drain it, but more importantly, didn't compress it for the requisite week or so to keep it drained. That's usually because once you get sucked into the grappling life, even skipping training for a week or two can feel like a really long time.
