May 10, 2023 · A male gorilla who arrived in Prague Zoo last year has been recorded frolicking around and enjoying the spring sun. The 25-year-old Kisumu, who was transported from Austria to Czechia last September, is seen playfully fighting with a younger gorilla named Ajabu who has lived at Prague Zoo’s gorilla pavilion for several years.
When finished, the western lowland gorillas’ new home will be the largest exhibition at Prague Zoo. Since autumn 2019, this 2,500m2 pavilion has been rising in the space next to the giraffe enclosure in the upper part of the grounds. There will also be almost 3,000m2 for outdoor enclosures. Currently, the opening is set for autumn 2022.
Jan 4, 2024 · A baby Western lowland gorilla was born in Prague Zoo on Tuesday evening, announced Prague Zoo director Miroslav Bobek yesterday. The sex of the newborn, whose mother is 10-year-old female Duni, is not yet known. Duni is the daughter of the famous Moya, the first gorilla born in the Czech Republic. The father is the 26-year-old male Kisumu.

May 21, 2023 · Prague Zoo is expecting another high-profile birth! Duni, the daughter of the zoo's famed gorilla Moja, is currently several weeks pregnant, Prague Zoo director Miroslav Bobek revealed on social media this weekend. With gorilla gestation periods typically lasting between 250 and 300 days, Duni could be expected to give birth early next year.
