The Hundred Peaks Section is the second-oldest of the Angeles Chapter mountaineer sections, and is its most active. It was started by outdoorsman Weldon Fairbanks Heald (1901-1967) in 1941, who wanted to summit 100 peaks in Southern California. [1] [self-published source]

Psinskihegan means notch and I-Outop means head. in 1828 in the Survey of Maine, Moses Greenleaf called the mountain a variation Chinskihegan or Outop.
