I had it just about solidified when I realized that Windsor Castle is only about 45 minutes from London by train. I thought it was further for some reason. My husband and I love historical buildings, so it seems a shame to miss it. We already plan to see Hampton Court Palace and the Tower of London (I'm allocating about 4 hours at each).
15 years ago. Windsor Castle is one of the highlights of my travels over the last 30 years! If you love England and its history it is a must-see IMHO. We took the train and the free tour and had a blast. DO go on a day when they are changing the guard at the castle (every other day).

I found it much more fascinating than Buckinghman Palace or Kensington Palace. In fact, the art collection alone merits a visit. And St. George’s Chapel is stunning.
