The film was one of Salvati's first assignments as a director of photography. Salvati would work again with Fulci on several films ranging from Dracula in the Provinces, Zombi 2 and The House by the Cemetery.

Naturally, his films are the perfect subject for a death metal band and that’s where Italian death metal band Fulci comes in.
5 days ago · FULCI have definitely done it again with Duck Face Killings, both as a platter of supreme death metal but also in the way that they perfectly reflect the cinematic horror of The New York Ripper in audio form. With the band fully embracing the grime and horror of the movie, this is the perfect audio companion. Rating: 9/10.

The deep cuts do indeed cut deep, there’s undeniable riffage all over this thing, and the concepts of adhering to Lucio Fulci’s work while also playing to the history of death metal and its genre mixing through the decades are quite admirable.
