The books which do not appear in Protestant Bibles, called the deuterocanonicals, are a different story, these were widely received and considered scripture by the Christian faith all over. These are definitely good to read, you can find most of them in a Catholic Bible, or you can get an Orthodox Bible which has a few more than the Catholics do.

This has been the canonical order since it was formally decided by the church councils of the late 4 th century AD. I have included Apocryphal/Deuterocanonical books (and additions within books) in italics.
