May 31, 2024 · The release will come with the baseline PBR viewer and will likely have PBR for terrain along with support for 2048×2048 textures and real mirrors. Last summer PBR entered the Beta phrase with Linden Lab and the Firestorm team provided a series of PBR previews (Alpha) before the LL release followed by Beta.
May 30, 2024 · After a much anticipation, the Firestorm viewer -- by far the most-used Second Life viewer -- will very soon going to add PBR: Since Linden Lab released the PBR viewer last November, we have been working with them to identify, prioritise, and squash numerous bugs and usability issues.
May 30, 2024 · I'm using the Firestorm Beta, and that gives us a choice of PBR or Blinn-Phong, and it can be converted back and forth. I don't know if the official viewer does that. I find the overall image is better on the FS PBR Beta, than on the non-PBR version, even with Blinn-Phong textures.
May 29, 2024 · I have been using the Firestorm PBR betas (and the alphas before them) and it has been stable enough for months to be my main viewer.
May 29, 2024 · The Firestorm beta handles this well. If you go into edit, you can switch between the PBR and Blinn Phong textures in the edit window and the mesh changes what is shows to match which is currently selected.
