May 2, 2024 · John Rhys-Davies almost turned down the role of Gimli if it wasn't because of Peter Jackson. The actor also revealed he is not a massive fan of science fantasy movies. The Welsh star shared some reflections after playing his Lord of the Rings character.
The striking thing about JRD and his role as gimli was that he was only Gimli for half of the time filming. Pretty much anytime you dont see his face, its not him, but his stunt double. This was to the point that the entire cast of the Fellowship got matching tattoos but the only one that didnt was JRD.
