Jun 6, 2024 · Reached the summit on 6/10 at 11a starting at Whitney Portal campground at 1:30a. Did the switchbacks and added microspikes on the cable section only (ice axe or trekking pole adds support). It looked like this was the faster option than the chute.

Jun 17, 2024 · There are two official campgrounds in Badlands, called Cedar Pass and Sage Creek campgrounds. You can also go backcountry camping. Within the park, there is one hotel: the Cedar Pass Lodge. Just outside the park near Interior, South Dakota, you can also stay at the Badlands Inn or Badlands Motel.
